Marijuana causes less addictive than alcohol or snuff

Marijuana is the most commonly used illicit drug in the world and is less addictive, causing even less addictive than nicotine and alcohol.

The work, which has been published in the journal Addiction, was based on a review of the results of all studies related to cannabis in the last 20 years. Among the negative findings highlight its effect on pregnant women. The children of women who smoke marijuana during the pregnancy have children with a reduced weight at birth.

Regarding addiction, 10% of people who use marijuana dependence develops; this percentage increases to 16.5% when it comes to teenagers. The difference here is that cannabis is less addictive than other substances such as nicotine, heroin, cocaine or alcohol. Moreover, unlike other, cannabis not cause fatal overdose.

Can cause psychosis? According to the study, cannabis doubles the risk if it is commonly used, especially if there is a family history or if you start smoking marijuana in adolescence. This latter condition also favors cognitive disorders, leading to a worse academic results.

People may have difficulty with cannabis use, especially if they do daily for a long period. There is no doubt that large consumers experience withdrawal symptoms like alcohol and heroin.
